A New Home Search

After several years of diligently saving money, I’m nearly ready to purchase my first home. Because I’ve been thinking about buying a home for so long, I know exactly what I want my house to look like. I desire a place that has three bedrooms and three bathrooms. I also need a quiet space to set up my home office in. I want a massive, walk-in closet in my master bedroom. My master bathroom needs to have double vanities, a tiled, walk-in shower, and a Jacuzzi tub. On this blog, I hope you will discover how to set priorities during your new home search. Enjoy!

3 Signs Your Realtor Gets You

Elli Jokela

When you are looking for a house, there are a lot of issues that may pop up when you work with a real estate agent. Sometimes, your agent may show you homes that don't fit your personal aesthetic or goals at all, which can be frustrating--especially if you have a busy schedule. Here are three signs your realtor gets you, and how it could help your home search.

1. You Can Relate

Whether you like sports and need a large living room to host game nights or you are dying for a soaker tub, it pays to have a real estate agent who really understands your list of must-haves. Talk with different agents about your lifestyle and what you need, and ask them how they can help on your journey to finding the perfect home. If it seems like they truly understand your vision, you are more likely to find a great home with their help.

2. You Are Seeing The Right Kinds of Homes

Are you seeing places that fit your budget and criteria, or houses that you would never live in, or couldn't afford? Think about the types of homes you have been shown, and whether or not you are exploring houses that fit what you are looking for.

If your agent is showing you homes that would work, but that are in the wrong area or have a simple quirk that makes them not right for you, keep working with that professional. On the other hand, if you are perpetually being shown places you don't like, search for a new agent instead.

3. Your Time Isn't Being Wasted

Great real estate agents know that time is valuable, especially for their more successful clients. If you are constantly finding yourself struggling with an agent who takes a long time to get back to you or fumbles when it comes to choosing a great house for you to explore, start looking for a new real estate agent. Your time is important, and you deserve for it to be treated that way. Stand up for your time, because nobody else cares more about your schedule than you do.

Anytime you are struggling to look for a new home, think about whether you are working with someone you trust. Think about how you found them, how things have been going, and whether or not you see finding the home of your dreams under their care. If you don't feel positive about the situation, look for another agent who can help.
