After several years of diligently saving money, I’m nearly ready to purchase my first home. Because I’ve been thinking about buying a home for so long, I know exactly what I want my house to look like. I desire a place that has three bedrooms and three bathrooms. I also need a quiet space to set up my home office in. I want a massive, walk-in closet in my master bedroom. My master bathroom needs to have double vanities, a tiled, walk-in shower, and a Jacuzzi tub. On this blog, I hope you will discover how to set priorities during your new home search. Enjoy!

Not everyone can afford purchasing a home, and some people just do not have the desire to own one. But, this does not change the fact that they may want or feel the need to live in a house because they have several children and want to give them enough room to spread their legs and have their own room. If you have a tight budget for finding a rental home, you should also consider the various ways that you can reduce the expenses that you will have to pay while renting.
Short Ceilings
Tall ceilings certainly look nice and make any place feel roomier, but the main issue is extra costs. When you have your heater or air conditioner on, you will naturally spend more money to maintain a certain temperature. It is the same reason that smaller homes are less costly on utilities than larger homes. The less air space there is to control the temperature of, the more money you will save. Ceiling heights may have been getting taller, with 10 feet becoming more common, but 8 feet is better for saving money.
Small Yard
A large landscape will typically come with grass, trees, and other plants dispersed all over. If you are able to find a landlord that takes full responsibility for everything related to maintaining the yard, then you do not really have to worry about the size of the yard. But, when you are responsible for anything, you have to put a lot of time and effort or money into upkeep, with mowing, tree trimming, and watering. A small yard is just a better option for minimizing costs, as you can do most things on your own in no time at all.
No Carpet
Hardwood, tile, and laminate are incredible flooring options for a rental home because they are so easy to clean. Also, you do not have to worry about major work such as refinishing or sealing hardwood. That is the responsibility of the landlord, so you will save money through minimal upkeep. But, if you end up in a home with carpet, you may want to get annual carpet cleaning to get rid of stains and keep it clean. This can run you about $174 each time, which you would be able to avoid with another flooring type.
