A New Home Search

After several years of diligently saving money, I’m nearly ready to purchase my first home. Because I’ve been thinking about buying a home for so long, I know exactly what I want my house to look like. I desire a place that has three bedrooms and three bathrooms. I also need a quiet space to set up my home office in. I want a massive, walk-in closet in my master bedroom. My master bathroom needs to have double vanities, a tiled, walk-in shower, and a Jacuzzi tub. On this blog, I hope you will discover how to set priorities during your new home search. Enjoy!

Potential Benefits Of Working In Real Estate

Elli Jokela

People who prefer to have a job with flexible hours that they set themselves may want to consider a career in real estate. There are a number of potential benefits to this type of career.

Relatively Short Training Time

While each state has different requirements, it typically takes just a few weeks or months of attending a realtor school to get a realtor license. You can attend a class in person or sign up for classes at an online real estate school. With an online real estate school, it may be possible to finish the courses even faster than during an in-person class, since you can pass off material as you master the concepts. However, students attending in person should expect the course to last the specified number of hours.

In Florida, you need a high school diploma and then you start with a pre-license course that takes about 63 hours. Once you pass the course exam, you can take the Florida real estate sales associate exam. Then, before it's time to renew your license, you take a 45-hour post-license course. After 2 years of having your license, you can take the 72-hour pre-license course and exam for becoming a broker. Then, after getting this license, you take the 60-hour post-license course before the license expires. Lawyers in good standing can skip the pre-license course before taking the initial licensing exam. To keep your license, you need a certain amount of continuing education credits to make sure you keep up with current real estate laws.

Potential for High Earnings

Earnings will be variable and depend on the area where you work and how much time and effort you put into your business. The national average was about $45,610 per year, or about $21.93 per hour, in 2015. For Florida, this average is a bit higher than average, at about $26.01 per hour or $54,090 per year. But some real estate professionals make $100,000 per year or more.

Flexible Schedule

Once you get a real estate license, your hours will be flexible. You can set your own hours and work as many or as few hours as you'd like. Just be aware that most of these hours may wind up being outside of regular working hours because you'll need to be able to meet clients when they are free. This often means evenings, nights and weekends.
